Every September, Nevada Donor Network is honored to celebrate and share gratitude with our frontline heroes at the Nevada DMV. Over 98% of registrations in Nevada come from their offices. Currently, over 60% of Nevadans are registered.
Did you know that we consider Nevada DMV team members to be the frontline of organ, eye and tissue donation in Nevada? Without heroic donors, transplantation would not be possible. Donation starts when someone registers their decision to be a hero. The hard work that Nevada DMV does every to support our mission is incredibly vital to saving and healing lives.
Nationally, according to Donate Life America, DMV team members across the nation have helped 170 million people register their decision to be a hero. This is why Donate Life America created National DMV Appreciation Month, to recognize the essential role DMVs and Driver License Partners (DLPs) have in saving and healing lives.
Additionally, Nevada DMV participates in other national observances that bring awareness to organ, eye and tissue donation. National Donate Life Month is celebrated through a decorating competition, which sparks conversations and creates a donation-positive culture.
Lastly, Nevada DMV invites Nevada Donor Network to educate their newest team members at their monthly new hire academies. This is the perfect time to share just how important each and every team member is in helping to further our mission in Nevada.
There is one special team member in southern Nevada that we would like to highlight! Meet Josie. She has been supportive of our mission for over ten years. Josie is currently serving as an Operations Coordinator for the Nevada DMV at one of the Las Vegas offices. Josie oversees and supports the building and operational aspects of her DMV office. Her role focuses on ensuring that the office is compliant, functional and safe for her team to deliver efficient service to our Nevada Strong community. Josie feels that working with the Nevada DMV gives her the unique opportunity to make a meaningful difference in our community. One of these ways is how she interacts with those making the important decision to be an organ, eye and tissue donor. Josie feels that being the front line for Nevada Donor Network’s mission of saving and healing lives is an honor and powerful responsibility. She is proud knowing that a thoughtful explanation at a counter can ultimately help save a life. Josie believes that Nevadans should register as heroic donors because it is one of the most meaningful and selfless decisions a person can make.
