Each year, we join the International Association of Coroners and Medical Examiners (IACME) in celebrating Medicolegal Death Investigation Professionals Week. This year’s observance is from January 19-25, 2025! IACME was founded in 1927 as an international association. It prides itself on the recognition they have acquired at the federal level when it comes to medicolegal matters. IACME currently has over 1800 members and has representation at state level across the United States.
Medicolegal Death Investigation Professionals Week is the perfect time to honor and recognize the vital contributions of allies and professionals who investigate an individual’s death. These experts are one of the many community partners that we are lucky to work with in our Nevada strong community. They include administrative staff, coroners, forensic autopsy technicians, forensic pathologists, medical examiners, medicolegal death investigators and many more. Each role in these organizations play an essential part in public health and safety in our communities.
In January 2024, the United States Senate passed Resolution 532 which recognizes and supports the goals and ideals of the National Medicolegal Death Investigation Professionals Week. There are multiple states and local governments who issue proclamations to honor medicolegal professionals and find ways to honor them during this observance and throughout the year.
Nevada Donor Network wants to send our utmost gratitude to the medicolegal death investigation professionals we work with daily. Your choice to graciously support our mission to save and heal lives through organ, eye and tissue donation is immensely appreciated. Without your support, we would not be able to help the over 100,000 Americans desperately waiting for a second chance through organ donation or the thousands of people around the world who are in need of a tissue transplant to change their lives.
